Linux is a modern operating system based on open and free access to source code. As a result, Linux is distributed in the form of many modified distributions, which is not possible with Windows from Microsoft, for example. After installing the selected Linux distribution, you will not only get a bare operating system, but usually also hundreds of applications intended for various uses.
