ECONOMIC AND HIRING REVIEW

Despite a degree of labor market stability in many European countries, the uncertainty of 2020 has resulted in a slowdown or complete cessation of recruitment. In the first quarter of 2021, however, recruitment activity began to increase significantly. The main European countries acquiring technology are mainly: Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Netherlands and Czech Republic.

Employers in Czech Republic made 9 437 job postings during Q1 2021 for tech hires, mainly in the following positions:

  • Software Developers, Programmers and Web Developers
  • Systems Analysts and Cybersecurity
  • IT Support Specialists and Technicians
  • Network and Systems Administrators and Technicians

The main employers acquiring technology in the Czech Republic are: 2K Czech, Avast, NXP Semiconductors, FZU (Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy), UBK, 24i Media CZ, Tesco, Vendavo, Škoda Auto.

Employers often expect a certain level of cyber security, data management, cloud, projects and related technical skills. And because of the intersection of technology and business, technology technologists must master other skills in areas such as communication, emotional intelligence, teamwork, problem solving, creative thinking, project management, and more.

EMPLOYERS SEEK WELL-ROUNDED TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS

Job advertisements for technology positions accounted for approximately 13% of the total number of recruitment advertisements during the first quarter of 2021, compared to 11% in 2020. This result is due to the continuing trend of digital transformation.

The most important branches of recruitment of technology professionals during the 1st quarter of 2021:

  • Information and Communication
  • Manufacturing
  • Administrative and Support Services
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services
  • Financial and Insurance

A comprehensive analysis across all technology job offers suggests that employers tend to look well-rounded technology candidates. It also reflects ever-expanding innovations, where new platforms, new coding languages, new hardware and devices, new data flows and new combinations of technological building blocks (IoT) are de facto part of the work of every technology professional.

In the table of leading technical skills, we find representation of all these areas, including software, infrastructure, data and business applications. Although cyber security is not specifically mentioned in these 10 most important skills, it is increasingly common for employers to expect basic cyber security expertise for all IT professionals.
