Course description

German economy is and always will be particularly crucial for us Europeans and Central Europeans. Historically and economically, we are connected with Austria and Germany. In our country, German and Austrian companies have the largest presence, and even, for example, American companies often manage Czech branches through their headquarters in Vienna or in Munich, Düssledorf...
And yet - what do we actually know about Germans and Austrians?

Target audience

For all those who come into contact with Germans and Austrians both professionally and privately and want to better understand the thinking, motivation, and values of their foreign colleagues, to prevent possible misunderstandings and conflicts.

Course content

  • What are Hofsted's intercultural dimensions and how do they work, what does it mean for us.
  • To understand how the Germans and Austrians think in comparison with each other, with the Czechs.
  • Why do Austrians get upset when we say they're like Germans - and vice versa.
  • To be able to communicate in "their language" - to avoid misunderstandings and avoid faux pax.
  • How to present to Germans and Austrians - how to argue and negotiate.
  • How giving feedback differs, what you can expect from German, Austrian colleagues and bosses and what they expect from you.
  • What is "in time" and what is "on time", how the perception of time differs in our cultures.
  • How to successfully conduct business negotiations with German, Austrian partners.

Objectives

  • Learn to perceive the differences between individual German-speaking cultures.
  • Better understand the motivation, behavior and way of thinking of German-speaking colleagues.

How to make it easier to return to the office?

Some people spent quite a bit of time at the home office, setting up new rituals and a daily routine. Our brains don't like to change anything, so we can feel higher levels of stress, anxiety and fear of going back to the office. Try to imagine that it is similar to when children return to school after the holidays. Some are afraid, some are looking forward. So if you are not exactly thrilled with your physical return to work, I will give you some tips on how you can make it easier.

What did Homeoffice bring? Connected via the Internet but disconnected humanely

Many studies show that the transition of work to the online environment has changed the nature of social capital (the sum of contacts we can use effectively because we know each other). On the one hand, employees report more meetings than ever before, but on the other hand, they report greater isolation due to "less" connections with others, which makes them uneasy and changes their behavior.
