Proxmox as an alternative to VMware, which is also gaining popularity among large companies

When we added Proxmox to our portfolio a year ago, we expected interest mainly from small and medium-sized companies looking for a cheaper alternative to VMware. However, reality surprised us. Today, Proxmox is also being deployed by large corporations and government agencies.

Our observations after a year with Proxmox

Our first Proxmox VE course premiered in September 2024. Since then, we have trained over 50 participants, with an average of one course per month, and interest continues to grow.

What type of companies are looking for Proxmox solutions?

We expected interest mainly from small and medium-sized companies. But reality has shown that large enterprises are also implementing Proxmox. They have part of their virtualization on VMware and another part on Proxmox. Thanks to their compatibility, both platforms can work side by side without any problems.

There is also interest from the government, for which we are preparing customized training for their environment.

What is Proxmox?

Proxmox is an open-source virtualization platform that provides features for managing virtualized resources such as virtual machines and containers. With Proxmox, you can create and manage virtual servers, share resources between multiple virtual machines, and easily perform data backup and recovery. This platform is often used to build cloud infrastructures and data centers.

The instructor led the course according to my expectations. It is clear that he has an overlap, and such courses are always the best. It was a basic training in the Proxmox environment, which was tailored to us.
